Nosy Sakatia: what you need to know
Green turtle watching
The green turtle feeding area is in shallow water, directly off the main beach. Observation takes place whilst snorkelling (fins, mask, snorkel) above the seagrass beds. To preserve the ecosystem and the animals’ peace, it is essential not to touch them and to maintain a safe distance at all times whilst swimming.
Getting around and access
You will travel exclusively on foot along dirt or sandy paths. Please bring suitable walking shoes if you plan to cross the island to reach certain coves.
Environment
Sakatia’s terrain offers several vantage points overlooking the Mozambique Channel and the surrounding islands. The local flora consists of dry forest formations and small-scale plantations.

Yes. Provided you respect the turtles and their environment. Your guide will explain the rules for approaching them before you enter the water.
Does the half-day trip include a meal?
No. The half-day trip includes a light snack. A full, high-quality meal is only included on the full-day trip.
When is the best time to spot sea turtles?
Green turtles can be spotted in the seagrass beds of Sakatia all year round. However, for optimal underwater visibility, it is best to go during the rising tide or at the start of the falling tide.
